Please bear with me while I figure out my new lighting setup. I broke the lights I was using previously, so I decided to use my OttLite for the first time.I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, so feedback would be lovely. I've reordered my old lights and will most likely switch back once they arrive.
Onto the photos!
I love what Zoya Katherine does to the color of the DL Edge of Glory flakies. It's even cooler in person! However, I didn't quite get the depth I was hoping for with this combo. I think another coat of Katherine would've perfected it. As you see it, this is 4 coats of Katherine and 2 coats of Edge of Glory.
Zoya Katherine retails for $8 and is available on Zoya.com
Deborah Lippmann Edge of Glory is part of a set that is discontinued, but there are a few sets that are currently listed on eBay for less than retail.

I'm glad I finally got around to using Zoya Frida. It's beautiful! It's a bit more sheer than any of my other jellies but not streaky at all. The formula was thin and manageable. Deborah Lippmann Shake Your Money Maker seemed like an obvious choice for Frida. It's a gorgeous glitter mix with a decent formula.

What do you do when you can't decided which polish to wear?
You wear more than one, of course! This is Zoya Godiva and Nyx, 3 coats of each. They behaved so well and dried so quickly that I was able to do this mani without the use of tape. The Zoya Pixie Dusts are by far my favorite texture polishes. So sparkly and sugary.

Beauty Envy Bag
Are you a beauty sample subscriber? Never heard of the Beauty Envy Bag? That is because it is something new the four of us beauty bloggers decided to put together. The Fall Edition is the inaugural Beauty Envy Bag. This is what a beauty bag of goodies should look like. Full sized items, deluxe samples (not tiny bits of product swiped onto a card), and with a beauty bag so nice you can wear it on a night out. Luxe brands fill this bag. This was a lot of fun for us to put together, choosing items the we have used and love and being able to share them with one of you. This is something we hope to do quarterly, so look out Winter Edition!
Since some of you reading this may not know all of the bloggers involved, we would love to introduce ourselves:
Lakeisha is a nail polish blogger from Florida. She is obsessed with polish, fashion, and merging the two together. She is the blogger behind Refined and Polished. |
Latoya is a beauty blogger from the East Coast of Canada. While she loves all things girly, she's also a closet gamer and is a die-hard Walking Dead fan. She is the blogger behind Beauty Obsessed. |
Leticia is a beauty blogger from the Pacific Northwest. She is a dog lover, sci fi nerd, handbag collector, and makeup junkie. She is the blogger behind Cosmetics Aficionado. |
Lola is a Midwest blogger with a passion for polish, science, and music. She is the blogger behind Burb Beauty. |
So what will be included in the awesome beauty bag you might ask? First we will look at the full sized items. These are to accompany the Calvin Klein red nylon wristlet with red leather trim. You can click through each one to read the reviews:
- Zoya FeiFei nail polish (picked and reviewed by Lakeisha)
- Zoya Natty nail polish (picked and reviewed by Lakeisha)
- Zoya Suri nail polish (picked and reviewed by Lakeisha)
- Zoya Frida nail polish (picked and reviewed by Lakeisha)
- Givenchy Acoustic Purple nail polish (picked and reviewed by Lola)
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in Shade #14 (picked and reviewed by Latoya)
- Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Eyeshadow in Pop Pistacio (picked and reviewed by Leticia)
And here are the deluxe samples that are also included with bag as extras:
- Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum
- Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance
- Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Sparkling
- Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume Mascara
- Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover
Here is what you need to know to enter:
- Must leave a blog comment (just one blog, doesn't have to be all four) letting us know what are your most favorite and least favorite things about beauty bags in general.
- Additional entries for following each blog on social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Open internationally
- Must be 18 or older
- Giveaway closes on Thursday, October 4 at 11:59PM EST
Good luck to everyone!

I'm back with more brands from my stash. It's so interesting to see what colors I'm drawn to. This is also another exercise in purging my stash. The more I see how many similar polishes I have, the easier it will be to get rid of some of them. Thanks for indulging me during this arduous process.
My Zoyas were all over the place! Each time I took a photo, I remembered I had more sitting around in another drawer.

A bit belated, but another battle in this purge war has begun!
Let's see who'll make it out unscathed.
OPI Mermaid's Tears isn't a sage green, but I wanted to include it anyway. It's more of a minty green. Whatever it's called, I absolutely love the shade. However, Mermaid's Tears was a bit thin and streaky. I didn't love the application.
OPI Thanks a Windmillion is more what I would call sage. Love it! I also really like the formula on this one - not too thin or thick and self-levelling.
I think I prefer Zoya Bevin to TaW because it's lighter a bit more flattering. Like most Zoya cremes I have encountered, though, it was thick and finicky to apply.
Battle casualties: OPI Mermaid's Tears and OPI Thanks a Windmillion.
I feel Zoya Bevin suits my skin tone the best, and I really don't wear this shade or anything close to it very often. I'll deal with the formula by adding some thinner.
So, how do you feel about this week's battle? What would you have purged?

Here are some swatches and comparisons of the shades from the collection. Since I own so many pale pinks, I skipped Better Together.
2 coats
Borrowed & Blue is a pale blue that isn't like any of the other pale blues released this season. I love how clean it looks. It was really easy to apply - no streaks or running. I thought it may be similar to Hard Candy Sky, so I did a quick bottle comp:
Look at how clean B&B looks next to Sky. So pretty. I didn't do a nail swatch comp, but I can do one if you'd like. I think they're different enough to own both.
3 coats
First Dance is a true red jelly. I love how shiny the finish is, and it was a dream to apply. I pulled two reds that I thought of when I first swatched First Dance, and this is what I came up with:
Top to bottom: Zoya Kristi, First Dance, China Glaze Salsa
First Dance and Kristi are jellys while Salsa is a creme. I don't see much difference between the shades, except Kristi is just a touch cooler and Salsa is richer in pigment.
3 coats
Made to Honor is a pinky nude jelly. It actually built up really nicely, which I didn't expect. I love this shade and don't own anything quite like it. Really, I couldn't even find something to compare it to. Of course, I might be forgetting something. Feel free to suggest a comp for this.

Caitlin is a purple grey creme. This reminds me of something. I'll have to dig it out and do a comp soon.
Danni is a pinky purple shimmer with gold and red flecks.
Dove is a neutral dove grey. This is probably the least unique of the bunch, but it's still really pretty.
Gemma is an olive green with a violet flash. It looks really blue in my pic, but it's more violet, I promise.
Jules is a taupe with gold flecks.
Marley is a pale purple with silver hidden shimmer. The base seems to lean more grey than white, so it's not as garish as most pastels.
What a gorgeous collection! I love every single shade and will probably rotate these shades for the next couple weeks. I can't even pick a favorite. They're calming without being boring. Perfect for Spring.
The formula was great. I didn't experience any dragging or goopiness, and they were all opaque in two coats.
What are you loving/hating from this collection?

More Barielles! I'm in love with these polishes. I haven't been disappointed in a shade yet. Also, you need to take a closer look at SH Sequin Scandal.
BAM! Look at the gorgeousness!
The packaging for this R&R Noir gloss in Conspiracy is SO EXCESSIVE! Ridiculous. The gloss is really pretty though. :D
The lip brush is decent. I just wish it were flatter.
R&R pressed powder. This isn't orange irl. The texture is so nice! The finish is satiny, which is great for my super dry skin. It doesn't accentuate dry patches or make my skin look parched.

Well first off, I got a lightbox. I wanted to DIY it, but with my luck, I'd probably sever an artery or at least get a major papercut (aka I'm lazy). I got my kit here. Not too shabby. I don't know what I'm doing with it yet and didn't have time to fiddle with it for too long, so these are the results. Next time I'll try to uh, focus.
Have I mentioned how much I love that Ulta is carrying Barielle Shades now??
They carry Zoya now, too! Hopefully they'll put Fire & Ice out soon. :D
Ondine is definitely top 5 faves for me. I even hit pan on it in my Holiday 08 (9947) palette!

Sloane is a gorgeous deep vampy purple shimmer. I accented with CND Glow, which makes any polish look amazing.

From Zoya's Fire & Ice Winter 2010 collection.
Valerie is such a gorgeous shade! It's a bordeaux base with tarnished gold sparkles. The color of the sparkles isn't as noticeable on the nail, but the depth is incredible and there's still a flash of gold in the right lighting. I think I'll keep this on for a few days! Valerie applied very smoothly and was opaque in two coats. Drying time was lightning fast with the help of SV.
Judging from the spoons posted on various blogs, I know I'll end up with the rest of the collection very soon. So sparkly!
